Designed by Red Design Group, the vision was simple, to create a venue that locals could genuinely call their own. Somewhere that feels relaxed, welcoming and familiar, while offering a range of experiences that appeal to everyone from families and sports fans to visitors discovering Townsville for the first time. The design takes cues from the tropical climate and lifestyle of the region. Open connections between spaces, generous outdoor areas and layers of planting create an easy flow throughout the venue, encouraging guests to settle in and stay awhile.
Each space has its own character, but they’re tied together through a shared sense of nostalgia and fun. Rich timber finishes, vintage inspired artwork and a bold geometric carpet bring colour and personality to the interiors, giving the venue a feel that’s both familiar and refreshed. The Sports Bar leans into a retro pub atmosphere, while the Bistro feels lighter and more relaxed, opening out to the outdoors and making the most of the North Queensland climate. Beyond the pub, tropical planting and a resort style pool create a laid back backdrop for the 53 room accommodation, bringing a holiday feel to the everyday local.
“Hotel Allen has been part of Townsville’s story for generations, so it was important that the design respected what people already loved about the venue. Rather than reinventing it, we focused on bringing new energy to the space while keeping the relaxed, familiar character that has always made it such a local favourite. The result is a venue that feels both nostalgic and contemporary, with something for everyone.” said Aaron Chen, Creative Director.
A much loved local brought into a new era, Hotel Allen is a celebration of community and hospitality.
