At Red Design Group, we’re incredibly proud to have collaborated closely with Australian Venue Co. on this project. The design concept celebrates Malvern’s rich past reflected in every detail, from the welcoming ground level public bar and dining space to the chic rooftop terrace and versatile private function room. The name “Gardiner” nods to local pioneer John Gardiner, whose early contributions helped shape the suburb.

“We wanted to create a space that respects the building’s heritage while introducing a refined, modern hospitality experience,” says Aaron Chen, Creative Director at Red Design Group. “Every design element, from the materials to the lighting and furnishings, was carefully considered to ensure a seamless blend of old and new.” 

The design team merged historic charm with contemporary design, ensuring every interior element was thoughtfully curated and delivered on schedule. The Gardiner is crafted as a warm, casual hub where friends, families, and community members can gather — whether it’s to catch a game in the public bar or share a meal in the inviting dining area.

The Red Design Group team is excited to have played a part in reinvigorating a space that not only honours Malvern’s storied heritage, but also sets the stage for new memories. The Gardiner Hotel is a perfect blend of history and modern hospitality in the heart of Malvern.
