Designed by Red Design Group, the revitalisation delivers a new bistro, expansive beer garden and refreshed boutique accommodation, creating a venue that feels deeply rooted in place yet aligned with the way people gather today. The design honours the building’s legacy while enhancing connection, flow and comfort, allowing locals to recognise the spirit of their pub while experiencing it with renewed clarity and warmth.
A relaxed, light filled character now defines the Australian Venue Co. hotel, pairing its historic foundations with a fresh coastal palette. Natural timbers, open air transitions and layered seating zones support ease and flexibility, enabling the venue to shift effortlessly from daytime dining to evening atmosphere. The architectural response celebrates the region’s rhythms - soft light, open air and a casual coastal sensibility - encouraging guests to connect and move naturally throughout the space.
The bistro opens onto a north facing deck that captures daylight and flows directly into the reimagined beer garden. With picnic tables, market umbrellas and gentle landscaping framing views of the Noosa River, this outdoor area has been designed to be bright, open and unmistakably Sunshine Coast. Inside, the Corner Bar offers a relaxed setting for midweek meals, while the new sports bar provides an energetic focal point anchored by large screens and an updated service experience.
With heritage at its core and a renewed focus on contemporary hospitality, the Royal Mail Hotel once again stands as a central gathering place for Tewantin, purposefully designed for the way people socialise and connect today.
