Whether you’ve caught an unforgettable gig inside or just strolled past on your way to the beach, The Espy has been a part of St Kilda for 144 years. A landmark that has evolved alongside the suburb, always staying at the heart of Melbourne’s music scene. And now, it’s grown again.
The latest addition is The Espy Sunroom, a brand new 252 person bar in the former Ichi Ni Izakaya space, serving up food, cocktails, and live music across a bright indoor space and a generous open deck.
“The Espy is more than a pub, it’s a piece of Melbourne’s cultural fabric. We wanted to enhance what makes it special while giving people even more space to experience it,” says Rob Ovcaric, Founding Principal at Red Design Group.
From hidden nooks steeped in history to vibrant new social spaces, the evolution of The Espy stays true to its rebellious, electric spirit. More room to grab a drink, catch a gig, and make new memories while keeping the soul of this St Kilda icon alive.
The Espy's open. Rock on.
